Weekly Article: Acid Wash 7/8/2009
A-1 Pool Service performs swimming pool acid washes to reduce stains and mineral and calcium buildup on pool plaster and pebble tec.
Our process includes draining your pool then applying a layer of specially mixed acid and chemical add ins. This acid will remove the fine layer of chemical and mineral buildup that is present on the plaster of your swimming pool, as well as reveal a layer of plaster underneath that is a better reflection of the “true” color your plaster was when it was first installed.
A swimming pool acid wash should be performed on a pool only once every few years at the most because doing it too commonly is likely cause your plaster to wear out prematurely.
Make sure that whoever you have perform the acid wash is knowledgeable with the procedure because an improper acid wash can cause swimming pool plaster to flake and bubble, leaving the plaster rough like sandpaper.
